Is
indoor tanning safe?
Indoor tanning is a controlled way to receive UV light.
The percentages of UVA and UVB light that the bulbs emit
is in regulation with DHEC and safety standards. By gradually
developing a base tan, you do establish a natural SFP to
protect your skin from the natural UV sunlight. Any exposure
to UV light does increase your chances of photo-aging and
development of skin cancer.
What types of beds do
you have?
360 Tan offers 3 types of tanning. We have three Regular
20 minute beds, two 15 minute Turbo Beds, and a 9 minute
Stand-Up Capsule. The Regular Beds are great to build your
base tan or for napping! Once you have established your
base tan, you can then graduate to the Turbo Beds. The Turbo
Beds are only 15 minutes long and 30% stronger. Therefore,
you will achieve a darker tan faster. The Stand-Up Capsule
is 3 times stronger than the Regular and Turbo Beds. The
Stand-Up Capsule emits maximum UVA and very minimal UVB,
therefore, anyone, at any stage can use this tanning unit.
What is the difference
between UVA and UVB light?
UVA light is the longer ray or the TANNING RAY. UVB is the
shorter ray or the BURNING RAY. Both are necessary for the
skin to tan. UVA is the ray that actually tans the pigment,
melanin, and UVB stimulates the production of melanin in
your skin. The tanning units have a manufactured amount
of both UVA and UVB to give you a dark tan, while minimizing
your chances of burning.
What is the difference
between high pressure and low pressure tanning beds?
High pressure beds are typically priced higher and allow
for longer tanning sessions. The beds are equipped with
"cartridges" that allow for maximum UVA and very
minimal UVB. However, the penetration of UVA is much further
than low pressure UVA light due to the high wattage of the
bulbs. High pressure beds, otherwise known as UVA Tanning,
seems to last a bit longer because the rays are penetrating
deeper and therefore tanning below the surface level of
the epidermis, sometimes affecting the collagen layer(the
muscle of your skin).
Low pressure tanning, as you will find at 360 Tan is a total
"surface tan" and will only tan the very top portion
of the skin. Also, low pressure tanning emits both UVA and
UVB to allow for the darkening effect as well as the stimulation
of more melanin.
Do indoor lotions
really work?
YES!!! Indoor lotions provide your skin with the necessary
ingrediants to keep the skin well moisturized to allow for
maximum UV light penetration. Dry skin does not tan well.
Also, indoor tanning lotions provide skin cell stimulation
to increase the circulation of your blood cells allowing
the UV light to immediately tan the skin. These skin stimulants
are sometimes referred to as TINGLE PRODUCTS, and automatically
turn the skin's surface red upon application. This redness
will subside following the tanning session. ONLY advanced
tanners should use these products. Non-Tingle dark tanning
lotions are also available at 360 Tan. These products also
increase the speed of the tanning process without the uncomfortable
feel of the "tingle."
360 Tan offers a wide variety of tanning lotions to meet
the needs of tanners at all levels.
I
do not have a base tan now, should I still use a lotion?
YES! Indoor tanning lotions are developed to increase the
rate at which you will receive your tan while minimizing
the redness, WHEN USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE PROPER AMOUNT
OF TIME TANNING. You are spending the money on the tanning
session and should maximize the time you spend in the tanning
bed for better results.
I
feel
like I am not getting any darker. Are the bulbs old?
NO. 360 Tan prides itself on NEVER allowing the bulbs to
emit less than 70% of the maximum tanning wattage. 360 Tan
changes the bulbs BEFORE the recommended "manufacturer"
bulb life. Rest assured that if you are tanning at 360 Tan,
you will never be in a bed or stand-up unit with bad bulbs.
